November 5, 2025 – The Executive Secretary of the National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA), Professor Said A. Mohamed, has officially announced the results of the Primary School Leaving Examination (Standard Seven) for the year 2025. The announcement was made today in Dar es Salaam, providing a clear picture of the performance of Standard Seven students nationwide.
According to these results, a total of 937,581 candidates, equivalent to 81.80% of the 1,146,164 candidates who sat for the exam, have passed this important examination. This is an improvement in performance compared to previous years and indicates ongoing progress in Tanzania’s education sector.
The Primary School Leaving Examination is a key milestone in the education of Tanzanian children. These results confirm the joint efforts made by the government, teachers, and parents to ensure that children receive high-quality, world-class education. These achievements also bring hope to parents and the community at large regarding the progress of children at the primary education level.
Professor Mohamed congratulated all candidates who performed well and encouraged those with lower achievements to continue working harder in their studies to achieve their life dreams. “These results are evidence of the collective academic efforts among students, teachers, and education stakeholders,” he said.
He also stated that these results provide an opportunity for the government to assess areas needing additional support in order to further improve educational services, especially in rural areas which sometimes face various challenges. The government is committed to continuing to invest in improving school environments, hiring more teachers, and increasing teaching resources to improve future outcomes.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to continue cooperating with schools and motivating their children to study and learn even harder, as education is the foundation of personal and national success and development.
At present, successful candidates are preparing to enter the secondary level, where they are expected to continue excelling. The National Examinations Council of Tanzania has pledged to continue ensuring that all examinations are reliable and conducted with complete transparency and fairness.
Overall, the 2025 results are a source of joy for many families, teachers, and the entire community. This is a major step towards realizing the national vision of an educated society capable of driving rapid and sustainable development.
These results also highlight to the government and education stakeholders the need to continue strengthening the entire education system in the country, ensuring that no student is left behind and that every child gets the chance to fully develop their talents.
A new academic journey officially begins for this year’s Standard Seven graduates, with various challenges expected to be tackled to ensure that primary education continues to be a strong pillar for Tanzania’s educational success.
Indeed, these results represent a collective victory for every Tanzanian who encourages and collaborates to ensure that Tanzanian children receive quality education and better life opportunities. The government and all stakeholders are urged to continue pushing forward the education sector so it can grow and bring about significant transformation in the country’s entire education system.
